PWA

PWA is the concise term for “ The Presbyterian Women’s Association of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland”.
The purpose of the Association as stated in the handbook is as follows:
1  To unite the women of the Church in the dedication of their lives to Jesus Christ and His service in the home, the workplace, the community and the Church.
2  To share in the mission of the Church at home and overseas through thought, prayer and financial support, and
3  to provide a link with the women of other Churches in Ireland and throughout the world.

Our Church branch meet on the first Monday of each  month from September to March. Our membership at present stands at 38 and attendance at meetings is very good. The meetings begin with Worship in the form of a prayer, a hymn and a bible reading. A programme is drawn up for each session to include Missionary speakers, young people who have been on outreach projects or community workers speaking on topics which are of concern etc. We also have audience participation in short dramas which are enjoyed by all. Our Annual Dinner is a always a great success. Contact with other PWA’s is through the Rally in Church House  and by invitation to other Branch meetings.

Support for the overseas and home commitments of the Association is an important part of our work. Finance is raised through the Harvest Lunch, catering for visiting groups to our district and through personal giving to the Mission Box appeal and The Birthday Thank Offering. Our Branch contribute a considerable amount each year to the PWA General Fund.

We would encourage new members to join us and enjoy the fellowship. Our meetings are printed in the Church Bulletin each month and very important ,there is always a cup of tea.

If thinking about it please contact Anne Thompson or Pat Rutherford or just arrive at 8 oclock.
